Prayers Answered!
Greetings! I realize that we have not done much blogging in many months, but we have some wonderful news of advancement on both ministries that we supervise: Church planting in the Amazon of Peru and New Life Children’s Home Ministries. We started more than 30 years ago evangelizing and planting churches along the Amazon and tributaries of that very unreached area of Peru. We were able to establish many young leaders to begin a small group in their villages and leadership in the home church in Iquitos, that was implemented with a simple training system to support these leaders and monitor their progress.
In about 2006, Annette’s parents were ready to retire from the orphanage that they had established near Tegucigalpa, Honduras. They began their ministry after retirement age, and at 80 years old, they began calling on us to take over for them. After a 5 year process, we visited the orphanage and spent much time praying about whether we should take on that ministry. Even though we were still in charge of the river ministry, we began a 3 year agenda of establishing some important things with the leaders in Peru. Finally, we moved to Honduras in September 2011 to take over completely the ministries of New Life in Honduras.
After a very rich, eventful and very challenging ten years in Honduras, we were able to restructure many things, such as establish the children and youth, developing our staff and administration and much rebuilding of facilities and programs. During the 14 years that we directed the Children’s Home, we went back to Peru a minimum of once a year for a week or more to hold our annual conferences upriver in Santa Clotilde and back in Iquitos, to teach and encourage the leaders and believers. During those years, we established a training system for the city and river leaders which provided Biblical teaching, and gave them materials to use for teaching their church groups.
After restructuring the Christian School and other things at New Life in Honduras, like hiring and training our present administrators, Martin and Dulce, we began to seriously ask God for someone to come onboard to help us with fund raising and administrative responsibilities. Someone who would eventually take most of the load to allow us to dedicate more time to our ministry in Peru that needed taking to the next level.
We praise the Lord that He has heard our prayers and sent us Rosemarie Korthos, a longtime friend and minister, together with her son Aaron and his wife, Sabrina, to join us. Rosie is now accepted by the board and assumes the role of “MISSIONARY ASSISTANT DIRECTOR” to help us and be trained in the particulars of the work in Honduras. We are SUPER excited to have her on board! We’re in the process of familiarization with the cultural and local ministerial issues that can help her greatly in the future! We’re also very blessed with her son and daughter-in-law who will eventually be part of the team. She is already a great asset to the New Life ministry helping with accounting, communications and sponsorship.
Meanwhile, back in Peru this year, we have been able to spend more time working on taking things with the river ministry to another level. For all these years of supporting and training our church leaders along the rivers, our influence has been almost exclusively through the visits that we could make to see them in their villages, and their travels to the conferences to be trained and have fellowship. Little by little, and sporadically, we had cellphone contact, sat-phone sometimes, and more recently some internet connection, but not conducive to a good DISCIPLING process. So this conference in January 2026, in Santa Clotilde, we were able to connect most of our ZONE LEADERS to internet, WhatsApp and Google Classroom because of the advancement of Starlink satelite internet that has become prevalent in Peru in the remote areas. This is HUGE ADVANCEMENT and things are accelerating with the next level of discipleship to the other villages with each Zone leader. We expect to advance quickly as we get more people connected to the internet training and discipleship. We also have a good friend and co-minister working with us in discipleship and training in this internet world. We Praise our Wonderfull Lord for these advancements and THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT!
